Using Weight Loss Jabs?
The New Wegovy Weight Loss Tablet
Is the Wegovy pill available on the NHS?
No, the Wegovy pill is not available on the NHS at the moment. The MHRA approved it on 11 June 2026, which means it is now legal to prescribe in the UK. But the NHS cannot fund it until NICE completes its own review.
Can you get the Wegovy pill on the NHS in the future? Two steps still need to happen first:
a review by NICE (the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) to decide whether the treatment is good value for NHS funding
a decision by local NHS services on whether to offer it in your area
There is no confirmed date for either step. Based on how long NICE reviews typically take, NHS access is unlikely before late 2027 at the earliest.
What are the current NHS eligibility criteria for Wegovy?
Injectable Wegovy is already available on the NHS. The rules for who qualifies are set out in NICE guidance TA875, published in March 2023. Wegovy pill NHS eligibility will likely follow similar rules once NICE approves it.
